Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
